I almost feel like there should be strings. What passes for leadership in the GOP these days is more like a puppet show.

    PULL THE TRIGGER!

I read a news article where if the government were shutdown by the Republicans/Tea Baggers, that while the military and government employees would get paid with “IOU”s, Congress will still get their paychecks. There is something wrong with that!

Congress should get paid with IOUs while the military, at least, get their paychecks. But the First Rule of Congress is “Look Out For Yourself!”

As far as I know, government issued IOUs are not legal currency to pay mortgages, groceries, medical care, etc.

    Damn hypocrites!

The whole thing is a joke. It won’t last more than a week. Every employee affected will get back pay, even if they were ordered to stay home. In most cases their next check won’t even be delayed.

Today (October 4th) HR3223 passed with a unanimous vote. The bill ensures back pay for all furloughed employees. Just like the last shutdown and the one before that (seven, since the Reagan years, as I understand). In the private sector we call this a paid vacation.
