I love this! It is an incredibly thought-provoking commentary. I’d like to show this to my students (high school) as a jumping off point for discussion of the current world situation.

I too, think it is a great thought provoking cartoon, and fro a moment considered my 7th graders would get it, but realized that it would createa firestorm for me, most adults don’t get it, sad….. isn’t it a shame that the fringes of our great religions stain the aim of them? Islam and Christianity are about peace and love…. the far right fringe (on both sides) is all about stirring up hate and fear…

Clay, I hope you will use the cartoon in your class. I think there are very few supporters for Rev. Jones and certainly not many - if at all- for al Qaeda, so I doubt it would upset the parents of your charges. I think editorial cartoons can be a powerful tool in the classroom and I’m glad you’re even thinking about using mine.

Just wanted to applaud this cartoon–it so well sums up the real problem behind the fuss. Thanks for ground-zeroing in on a subject that–perhaps because of their own issues–seems uncomfortably complicated for some people. (For me, it’s pretty obvious.)
