I’m trying to learn how to use Photoshop and this is my first attempt to colorize my cartoons digitally. This is pretty rudimentary now, but I hope to soon start using my Wacom tablet as well - which should speed up my progress. Stay tuned…
It will be interesting to see if you can draw with a tablet. I can’t, because I find that I need the finer control that the friction of a pen or pencil provides.
Bill, I have a large Intuous tablet by Wacom. I can draw with it, but will only use it to colorize. I’ll still draw and ink my work the old 19th century way and then scan the image in photoshop. From there I’ll use the tablet and stylus to paint in the layers of color. I still think the black and white version of a cartoon is the most powerful( and it reproduces best in newspapers.) I also think it’s important to have an original- which you don’t have when the black (ink) layer is created digitally.
