   I am eighty years old and never had racist thoughts until recently. I served with blacks in the early fifties, shortly after the military was integrated and had one as a very close friend.

   With the events of the past couple of years, as depicted in this cartoon, I am afraid racism is alive and well. I believe it starts in the White House and works its way down.

   We have made a lot of progress in the past forty years and I would like to see that progress continue, not go backwards.
