Today there was no humor in your sarcasm. This tragedy could happen any where. It is evident that your lively hood is dependent on commercializing your art. But this week is just a little different. Human beings are gasping for their last breath of life. The world is focusing on trying to be humane. Things aren’t pretty. But, I am proud our country is responding. Hopefully faster than we did in Katrina. Even now we are learning what our first response should have been. Chalk that up for the future. My question is how much harder would you or Mr. Robinson try to dig your loved ones out of the ruins with your bare hands than we are seeing from these desperate parents? Tomorrow you might focus on the bands of thugs that will be stealing and looting. And as you contemplate how in a civilized city greed can ravage the innocent and helpless, think of JP Morgan, Goldman Sach, AIG…Robert

Robert, there was no attempt at humor here, nor sarcasm. I wanted to point out just how horrible conditions were in Haiti - before the earthquake. So that would put the magnitude of this tragedy in perspective. Your interpretation was definitely not what I was after, but it’s somewhat expected when one tries to comment on such tragedies.
That you would equate this cartoon with the vile statements from Pat Robertson is ,to say the least, highly offensive and just plain ignorant on your part!

Mr. Ariail, Thank you for responding to my comments. Am I dreaming or have you changed your comment from Saturday? In that statement you didn’t refer to my ignorance but was suggesting that you were going to do a cartoon comparing the banks in competition for the money going to Haiti. I was impressed with the word “coincidentally”. I guess that will just be between you, me, and the Lord. I can live with that. Have a good day…Robert

Robert, I did add a line- after I realized your reference to Mr. Robinson and my cartoon was really about Pat Robertson’s hateful rant. That made me angry because I can’t see how you can equate the two. I just didn’t keep the other line about the banks cartoon. But, yes, coincidentally, my next cartoon (or one very soon) will focus on the greed of the banks taking taxpayer money versus the great need of the Haitian people.
