    or maybe not. Going green, aside from not being optional if we want to leave anything for our children, like Charleston and other coastal cities, can actually be an economic boon.

    I am offended by the “for our children” argument. So many anti-Liberty actions by government are enacted with the “for our children” argument. The “for our children” argument is used by those who want the power to tell other people what they can and cannot do with their property and possessions. It’s the “kids, ain’t they swell” argument that nobody can deny as they give away more and more of their property and their Liberty to those who claim to be better and wiser than the rest of us.

    The potential harm of EPA regulation is far less than the boondoggle than the special-interest boondoggle known as cap-and-trade that Congress may pass. The sensible way of dealing with this would be a straightforward carbon tax with the revenue used to reduce other taxes and/or pay down the deficit. That way, even if the climate change concerns be overstated, we get the benefit of stimulating energy efficiency and can set limits on the economic impact.
