For the first time in my life, I am very afraid for my country.

We survived 8 years of hell with bush, we can survive anything. Its going to take years to recover - if the USA does ever recover - from all the damage bush did. Especially with so many in denial with all that bush did to the USA. The USA has spent - and continues to spend - so much money on other counties - it’s past time we spend some here at home!

“All the damage Bush did” blah blah blah. And I suppose CONgress is not responsible for anything? Or there were actually more terrorist attacks during the Bush era?

Also, when you write about it being past time to spend some money here at home, are you saying that from your Prius? Or perhaps you’ll actually support Government Motors now that their union has a sweetheart deal financed by my tax dollars?

It is painfully ironic that you talk about being in denial about Bush yet you tout the party line when it comes to denial over all the damage that is CURRENTLY being done by Barry, Barney, Nancy and Chris.

The subtle, yet significant difference Trodel is that under the Bush Administration Republicans did not governing as they preached. What happened to limited spending and smaller govt under Bush with 6 years of a Republican controlled Congress? Why was there no substantial action taken to fix Health Care and why have millions of Americans continued to suffer? The answer was the Nov 2008 election.

The “current” Republican response is, “pay no attention to what we did in the past, and ‘trust’ us to get it right when when regain the majority.”

Govt Motors will eventually, like most Financial Institutions are doing now, pay back their bailouts when they get back on their feet again. The Republican response was to let them go under…

Nothing wrong with a Pruis or any other car that can save $$$ on gas. And as I look around, you’re still free to go buy any gas guzzler you chose.

The overall recovery will take time, but there are signs of progress (the Dow has again topped 10,000). The Republican answer is let’s get back to less regulation and let’s put our faith again in the Wall Street fat cats who will drive the economy, free of their greed of course… trust us with your savings and pensions (yeah right).

Typical play out the Republican Party playbook on this cartoon… Fear! Fear! and More Fear! Please note, Canada and Mexico are accepting green card applications if you Repubs are that scared.

Oh, how quickly we go partisen and point fingers of blame. Get a grip! Solve the problems instead of casting stones! I was fearful under the prior adminstration, and the present one has done nothing (pun intended) to mitigate those fears except spend more money that we don’t have. And THAT is the point of RA’s cartoon as I see it.
