Best wishes, Robert, on leing Cola, SC’s paper. I read The Charlotte Observer since the days of the late Doug Marlette and have been an amatuer cartoonist sice age 12, haviong y fist of six editorial cartoons printed in my upstate New Yotrk newspaper.
Should you be so inclined, I would appreciate your explanation of the butterfly in today’s (Leesburg FL Daily Commercial).
We know General Motors is “out on the proverbial limb,” and my take on the butterfly (a bailout analogy??) is the butterfly has crapped on the car, but my wife says the dripping stuff is rust. No money or dinner is riding on this, but I would consider it an honor if you would respond.
Many thanks!

Thanks, Bill. The GM butterfly is the smaller(and more beautiful?) company to emerge from the chrysalis that is represented by the bulky Hummer. Much like a real butterfly morphs from it’s catepillar stage to the more graceful butterfly. Hope that clears it up!

YEA! Thank you for doing an editorial cartoon on South Carolina politics. Local or state cartoons probably doesn’t get published in syndications, so I appreciate when you post a cartoon on SC politics.
South Carolina has more than its fair share of looney politicians.
Just 584 days, 22 hours, 29 minutes, 53 seconds, 395 milliseconds left in SC Governot Mark Sanford’s term as governor.
