There’s a way to solve the Afganistan issue found in the movie, “What About Bob?” To quote Dreyfess on this mess: “It’s called death therapy, Bob.”

I’m pretty tired of the ‘graveyard of empires’ title given to Afghanistan. The Soviets were well on their way to making Afghanistan the ‘graveyard of Afghani middle-age backward-ism.’ Why? Because issues such as collateral damage, nation building, heart and mind winning and the like were not a factor. The Sov’s would blow up a Mosque on a RUMOR it was a sniper haven. But what changed all that? The United States of America, that’s what. And the taliban headstone… what a farce. Uncle Sam marching in and that headstone is already in place? Horse before the cart my friend. The only way the U.S. loses is lack of political will and/or lack of commitment. In the current political climate, sadly very possible. Never, ever trust the donkey.

Daniel, that was done back in April and my cartoon was the FIRST to use this analogy( I later did a remake of it that I like better when Obama talked of surging the troop levels). As for the Taliban, you may recall they seemed little more than a nuisance back then- and they did lose the country they ruled over, so I think their name on the tombstone is appropriate.
